Are you looking for a StarCraft 2 Terran vs Terran strategy to win every mirror match? This article is all about the TvT match-up and how to win against a Terran player.
First things first: When it comes to this mirror match, the game is not so much about build orders (although they are still important), it’s all about map control and map awareness. The key concept is: The player with the most Siege Tank wins the game.
StarCraft 2 Terran vs Terran Air Unit Strategy
Why do you need a strong air army in a Terran vs Terran match? The answer is: To get a superior field of vision for your Siege Tanks. This is an important concept that every Terran player has to understand in order to be successful in TvT.
As I’ve said, Siege Tanks win the game – Their superior damage and long range can erode every army size. But as you already know, the firing range of tanks is higher than their field of vision. To get the most out of your units you have to have some scouts to fly ahead and increase your line of sight. This way your Siege Tanks can shoot at your enemy while your enemy doesn’t even know where your army actually is.

Of course, the best way to scout ahead is to use mobile units: Banshees, Vikings and floating Barracks (big health for only 150 minerals). That’s why you have to aim for air superiority if you want to win the game. A Viking army can take out the opponent’s scouts and leave him in the dark while you continue firing at his units.
But don’t get caught up in this – Air superiority is important, but your flying units will hardly win you the game. The StarCraft 2 Terran vs Terran strategy is to get barely enough Vikings to kill off hostile scouts but don’t waste your resources on them.
StarCraft 2 Terran vs Terran: Struggle For Map Control
When the TvT match-up enters the late game, you have to have the macro advantage. Means you have to secure more expansions than your opponent, deny hostile expansions and have more unit producing structures.
But the most important aspect of your StarCraft 2 Terran vs Terran strategy should be to control the map and get the best possible position for your army.
As I’ve said before, the field of vision is very important to get the first shot. But if you can also get your Siege Tanks onto high ground or a cliff, your enemy can’t attack them at all! To increase your advantage even further you should search for a place where your opponent has to move through a choke point before he can shoot at you.
This way your whole army can bombard the enemy while only a few of the opponent’s units can shoot back at you. Do this and you can control strategic positions and deny expansions while mining on your part of the map.

StarCraft 2 Terran vs Terran: The Conclusion
Aim for the better position on the map, the bigger Siege Tank army and the air superiority to beat your Terran opponent in the late game. Your army size is important, but even the strongest army will be crushed when fighting in an unfavorable position.
